Me and my friends woke up early this morning (okay, my friends got up earlier than I did) and secured a spot in the rush line for "Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan" at the Toronto International Film Festival. Tickets had gone on sale and sold out without our knowledge, so the rush line was our only chance to see this film before its release in theatres.

I have to say, I had my doubts standing in that line... watching the ticket-holders stroll right past us and into the Paramount while we stood waiting outside. I kept thinking about how big Borat and Da Ali G Show have become and had convinced myself that there wouldn't be any available seats. But, after a good 1.5-2 hours of standing in line, they started ushering us in. To my knowledge, the first 23 people in the rush line got in, me and my buddies being 18,19, and 20. (yeah, it was pretty close.)

Naturally the only seats left were in the first 3 rows (and off center), and some of the subtitles were tricky to read, but the movie itself was absolutely HILARIOUS. My expectations were super-high going into this movie and I was not disappointed in the slightest. I pretty much laughed the entire way through...and missed some dialogue because everyone was laughing so hard, and for so long. Walking out of the theatre, my cheeks hurt from smiling so much.

This was my first experience at a Film Festival and obviously it was a great one. Is anyone else attending the festival (in Toronto, Chicago, Vancouver, wherever!) What are some other movies we should be looking out for?
