hmm from eddies claims it should be really good, but it seems like everyone either has no money left from buying other stuff or don't want to spend 287+shipping for something that hasn't been proven, im the latter.

Maybe someone should get Eddie to send a 'promo' unit to Head-Fiers.

If its as good as he says, sales will follow.

That's the best idea I've heard all week. I have just e-mailed Eddie to test the waters on this "promo" demo idea.

If this works out, there's a good chance I will be able to have Ori Zhaolu, Storm D02a(optimist?), and DA7.2 all in my possession at some point

All:

I ordered one a few days ago. Eddie replied he "will ship as soon as the product arrive." I was under the impression he had them in stock. No biggie.
I'll be comparing it to 1852 and 4398 Zhaolu 2.0's, bypassed, one with Eddie's caps mod.

I did as well, but in his own inimitable style he replied to the negative:

"Sorry I can not offer of return for the image of second hand !"

That's what I was thinking. I'm no EE, but when I saw the layout it seemed similar to the CEC DA53/AQVOX with the modules in those transparent red boxes.

It also shares PCM1796 DAC chip with them.

Wish someone could compare it to a Stello DA100 and a MHdt Constantine / Paradisea.

Too bad the Designer of the AQVOX/CEC products didnt patent his designs, especially these red modules. I personally wont support that kind of product piracy. The headphone output seems to be on par with the stock zhaolu one; pretty useless.

PS: I might be wrong and it could be licensed technology, i really dont know

So can anyone comment on how a CEC DA53 compares with the Zhaolu?

Interesting to note that the CIAudio VDA.2 uses the same chips and also has a transistor output stage. Different implementation of course, but comparable?

Oops ! Correction - The VDA.2 uses 1794s

All:

I just received the 7.2x tracking number from Eddie. I should have it Monday or Tuesday. Apparantly, the delay was due to having packaging made to survive international shipping.

The spec http://www.diykits.com.hk/da7.2.html says
Power supply..............AC 220v(+/- 10%) 50/60Hz
Are you actually getting 110v version?
