I don't know what the hell it is but I swear with all my new headphone gear I've been more motivated to listen to new music.

I am obsessed with Michael Buble now! I have both CDs and I want more. Can anyone else recommend more great CD's like his? I'll take both Female and Male voice recommendations.

I dunno though, it's really hard to think there's something better than this guy! He is amazing!

hi

IMHO michael buble is a pop-star and not a jazz singer (though the two are not mutually exclusive in general, of course). this does not mean I don't like his music, it's just that during production of his CDs sound engineers seem to have had a pretty tough time keeping his voice in pitch using pro tools - things that should not happen to a jazz singer.

_however_, I like his arrangements a lot: some are a great mix of big band, pop, some rock guitars and electronica (e.g. 'Fever' from 'Michael Buble' 2003).

FWIW, I also think that Frank Sinatra still rules the standards genre.

I like Michael's voice and music mostly, actually I do listen to it alot more then others.
since someone here had to edit their post like a peepee I do not know if someone mentioned "standards"..But i see somewhere it was..

anyway Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra (love him but he is over rated),Perry Como,Bobby Darin, and others are some of the older singers who some say started this style..

regardless I am no pro but I do know if you like Michael voice and style look into Frank Sinatra's double cd on the Reprise label called "very best of" and look into Dean Martin's "Dream with Dean" but this is slower but his voice is amazing (the writing of the lyrics are complete LOL).

My fave Buble songs are Quando,Quando,Quando - Save the last dance - Song for you - Kissing a fool (amazing stand up bass)- and others...

good luck man, and BTW if you get into the older stuff then make sure you get into records/lp/vinyl cause thats where the real magic is..esp with Mr. Martin on reprise

I also enjoy listening to Buble.. He's usually classified as easy listening and his songs are a good way to unwind after a stressful day... Something about his voice and his style that is pretty soothing..

Whoa Billy, are you on crack? Dude the guy is the epitome of jazz singing. His sense of swing and groove, the ability to lay back slightly behind the beat, his impeccable phrasing, those things are timeless and forever have influenced the art of jazz singing. Over rated schmated, ah billy, sometimes i wonder...

i have the buble's eponymous album and really like it. i love sinatra, and i find him more of an accomplished singer of the two, but i also prefer the tone of buble's voice to sinatra's

Sinatra was a man with (or knew people with) power, he was the man to do this or that anyway. His voice is nice (and different pending on age/label he sang on) but there is no real singing from him..more like story telling.
Now Martin on the other hand had a hell of a voice and I mean you could really hear it on alot of tracks, it was romantic, smooth, humorish and had lots of feeling (like Jane).

Sinatra was great dont get me wrong (one major reason why I got into vinyl) but he did not have the "best" voice on the bunch..or maybe style should say.
Another person that had a voice and amazing talent in other areas was Sammy Davis Jr.

I think Buble's voice might exceed Sinatra in tone and purity now but its to early to tell cause Sinatra changed as he got older and some prefer older to younger and vice Virsa (I prefer older Sintra, mature voice with more upbeat tempo). then again Buble might get Sinatra in the tone Department but Buble will never be anything more then a speck on Sinatra's balls in the end sort to say...lol thats only common sense.

And Ryan you know I love Blue Eyes...you know it!
