Anyone have schematics of solid stage Stax amps such as SRM-717 or similar? I know Kevin Gilmore's designs; I'm interested in the Stax SS stuff nonetheless.

you should not talk about taking a design from others here. especically a big-name companies.

the designs for some OLD stax all-tube amps are up on the web in a few places. you can probably find old ss designs if you are interested in components that are no longer available for purchase.

Seems you are not aware that even in the case of patented intellectual property, there is no legal restriction on personal use of the IP, only commercial. Indeed, it is a core concept of the patent system that the knowledge is publicly disclosed, to allow others to make use of it and create derivative innovation. Now, if the Stax designs are a closely guarded trade secret, then I withdraw my request, but I'm not aware such thing; still I would not ask someone to reveal stolen trade secrets from the company. But even without using internal Stax documents and schematics, the knowledge of how they work can be revealed in other legal ways. At least where I live (no DMCA in Canada), reverse engineering is a legal freedom we enjoy. Beyond legal considerations, these are the accepted ethical standards as well.

Agreed.

It's not made by stax but here's a post from kevin gilmore showing the Sennheiser HEV70 amp schematic. If you want an easier to read version, I did a little editing to combine the two images into one (link).

Thank you. Actually in the meantime I found someone that sold me the 2SA1968 at half the price on places like bdent etc., so I'll just build the Blue Hawaii for now; only thing missing is a transformer, and I'm winding my own.
