Know of any stores where you can try-out and buy higher end headphones? Either downtown Philly, Montgomery, Delaware County or surrounding areas?

There is a store in DELAWARE on 202 about 2 miles up on right hand side off 95. Also on the same road up about 5 miles is a tweeter store on right side. But both sell at retail price. On line is the best bet. Do you know what cans you would like to hear? In phila 8th st music has the 225 and up on arch st at 11-12 st. Also guitar center has some cans in Plymouth meeting and cherry hill NJ.

LTUCCI1924>> Thanks! I've been to Guitar Center in Plymouth Mtg but was looking for a guitar for my daughter at the time so I missed the headphones;

8th Street Music - do you know if they have Sony SA5000s or higher-end Sonys?

EDIT: I dropped by 8th Street today - nice shop - tried out the AKG 271S - they were OK but I did not have them amped so I wondered how much better they would sound. Will try to make additional trips - THANKS FOR THE TIP!!

Wow - that stinks! One of the reasons to go to a store is to try it out, right? Maybe because of you they have changed their policies - they let me open up a few headphones. I would say even I flinched when they opened up the Ultrasone 550 Pros that had tape over the box. I told them, "Let's try another headphone I do not want to rip the tape"

Within myself I was thinking, "I doubt I am buying the 550s Proline so do not bother ripping the tape off"

We tried the normal 550s that did not come in a taped box. They were OK but my cup of tea.

Cool - will do. I have never heard of them but Jenkintown is close to home. I'll let you know how things work out. Have you bought any items from them? Do they also have an online presence? (dosen't matter just curious)
