Hi all, I am looking for some advice on a fairly inexpensive amp to drive my recently aquired HD600 phones. The reason I am asking about the CHA 47 is that a Head-Fi member has one that I can pick up for a decent price ($50). It is 9v powered, apparently has no crossfeed, 1/4 phone and 1/8 input.

Unfortunately my budget dictates that I can spend less than $75 at this point. I would greatly appreciate some input on my dilemna. Is there something better that I should be looking at in this price range? Perhaps one of you has an amp that you don't need anymore and would be willing to part with to help me out. Anyone with a Meta for cheap let me know!

At that price range, probably not. The CHA47's and the CMOY's have been overshadowed lately by the META42, but that doesn't make them any less of an amp. If you were to get somebody to make you a META42 with ony 75 bucks, what you would end up anyway is a CMOY on a META42 board, although that gives you an option to upgrade later on, I suppose.

CHA47 would be a nice entry-level amp, and it'll do a better job at driving those Senns than most headphone jack on portables.

I've got both a CHA47 (powered by 8 AAs) and a META42 (powered by a single 9V). They both can drive my HD-600s just fine -- and I mean drive. You gotta hook up with a Head-Fi get-together so you can hear them all first. But I think you're safe with either.
