Do any of you guys use them? If so do you think that there is an audible difference when using them? Next, do you use the pucks at the bottom of the spike or just let the spike stick into the carpet? Finally are there any different/better alternatives?

Cheers

I did not use them on my previous speakers because they were not designed for spikes. I do use them on my current speakers becasue they came with them and were easy to attach. Since I have wood floors, I do not use them directly on the floor - I have felted pennies under each spike. Do they make a difference? I honestly cannot say, except that it does help prevent the bass from vibrating the floor via the speaker (they are floor standing speakers). So, I guess you could say they help somewhat.

with bookshelves i use rubber feet stopper if i have them on flat desk surface to help them less vibrate.

i tried spike under my speakers but the only difference it made was let the bass vibrate less into the walls and floor. that process effect how the soudn trasfers i guess, but its nothing to write home about. so it might be a good thing to do if you dont want to bother people as much and that the house objects aroudn the speaker wont vibrate as much to interfere with the music listening.

so i think its more to do with convenience purpose than sound.

i actaully prefer the no spikes so i can feel the bass vibrating on my feet.
it makes more a diference if you put a 20lbs block on top of each speakers to help them vibrate less maybe deeper bass on very loud volume.

more importantly is whats behind the speakers, how far teh speakers from the wall, room size, speakers distance from each other and from you, and its facing angle, acoustic damping.

You may get better bass reflex (less boomy) with the spikes. They also reduce unwanted noise from vibrations with the floor. They also keep you speakers from falling over

Vibrations are not your friend. I use spikes for monitors / sub and believe they help solidify the image. If on stands, you can also use artist's gum eraser (or Tack'N Stick adhesive for attaching pictures to walls). See picture below.

If you have carpet over hardwoods, you can run Phillips head screws through the carpet and rest spikes on screw heads. If you have stands, fill them with lead buckshot and sand.

My 2 cents.
