Sennheiser CX 300 IEM (a personal review)
Mar 6, 2006 at 6:26 AM Post #241 of 554
The confusion in regards to the price of the MX 300's apparently came from Sennheiser. Some press notes were sent out listing $40 as the price. The Yonies total price is less than $50 and is only a few dollars more than Amazon's deal that now does not exist. Saying that, Yonies is now out of stock and that price would be less than what they are likely paying for them now- unless they are getting a better price than others. The buds list for $80 now, hence the revised pricing. The question is was this an up front mistake, or, a price increase due to demand. I think it was a mistake, because they were targeting them to be at a price point that was better than the Shure e2c, though not in the lower end segements. $40 retail price point would be on the fringe of the lower end- especially when retailers sell them for less.

I ordered mine at the $49 total, though I was one day off of them being "out of stock". I hope their inventory system is live when they accept orders.....

Well I've got mine, and I'm not going to write much on them, but suffice to say they completely destroy the JVC HA-FX55. The bass seems more powerful, yet tighter and better defined. They are more detailed. They actually have a midrange. They are also more comfortable and fit in my ears better and are far less fussy to positioning than the JVCs, which frankly, suck balls compared to these.

I just got mine in from Yonies. Whoever said the packaging was "ghetto" was correct, but the headphone packaging itself was fine.

So far I really like these. The Isolation is good. They are moderately comfortable, and the Bass is great. They do sound a little muddy to me right now, but then again I litterally just opened the package and put them in. My Lack of patience make such things as burn-ins impossible

Note: Some of the muddiness I was experiencing was do the the fact that i had the EQ on my iPod turned on to compensate for the crappy sonys I was using previously. They sound much better now, but I'm still hoping they improve some after a burn-in. However, in any event, I am very happy with this purchase.

I'm wondering if the super.fi pieces would fit on them. I'd probably get double flanges and foamies. Isn't it true the super.fi pieces fit on sony ex71s and that ex71 pieces fit on cx300s?

I was thinking about double flanges or foamies too, they would be a heck more comfortable then these rubber stoppers....

Well, I bought a pair of these in black with express shipping.

Cost me $63 altogether.

Ordered them at 9PM... is it too much to ask for them to be shipped and here tomorrow? Duh, probably. But Wednesday should be doable.

I can't wait! I hate using my old crappy POS headphones. And my EX71 just stopped abruptly. I sure hope these are better.

Has anyone bought anything from this web site?
I want to know if they are trustworthy before I order from them. I cant seem to find any reviews on them, but I probly didnt search hard enough.

Can they be trusted?

Shipping is like $17. For me at least. I guess that's still pretty good.

$17 min shipping is simply sneaking more cost on the product. Anything beyond $10 is, since even if they contract the shipping process out, $17 is way over that standard. The actual price is $47 in this case ($57 total). Still, this is cheaper than other options at this time and still under the average cost on the net at this time.

Cost shipped ground from Yonies when in stock was $49. Perhaps the lower prices really were due to pricing confusion at launch. Sennheiser probably honored the lower price on the first batch and wrote the difference off as advertising expense. They are selling well at the higher prices that are more in line with the $80 SRP.

I would really like to hear a comparison between the cx300 and the ep630, the cx300 and the mx500, and the cx300 and the E2C. I like the sound of the MX500 and would love to have that type of sound in something with a little more isolation and less sound leakage.

Your read my mind bubsdaddy. I like the MX500's myself. I got a set of panasonic RP-HJE50 with the same aim and while they sound ok they are not what I'm looking for.
