I think I've settled on the AKG K-501 as my phone of choice. That said anyone know of a source with a usable headphone jack to partner with it? Maybe one that has some weight to it to offset the roll off of the AKG?

Or if no such beast exists, an amp to partner to my Adcom GDA-700? I love this thing, detailed, viel free, organic and not timid in the lower octaves. I don't think valves are going to suit my tastes for micro dynamics, weight and liveliness at LOW volumes. Just about the only amp I know of in the SS arena is Creek's OBH-11SE, what else should I look at? Grado's RA-1 is out for the same reason HD600 aren't on the list, hassle.

Anyway let me know what amp or source with a good phone jack you'd recommend for use with the AKG K-501 that has some bottom end weight, good micro dynamics at low volumes in the sub $1000US new region. Course I'll be looking for it used

I liked the Kenwood RD-VH7, and it's got both in one.
