Hi, I've been reading the reviews and whatever I could find on this amazing card. And I feel that this card is perfect for my purposes. I have a 2.1 setup which accepts only analogue inputs. Hence, the high sampling rate through the Wolfson DAC is what I'm looking at.

I know the Wolfson DAC supports 24bit 192KHz and reviews I've read state that the card supports "24bit 192KHz stereo analogue output". However, in the driver, the option is stated as "Enable High - Sample Rate(96KHz)". So, what's the deal? Is it 24/192 or 24/96?

Should I go with the m-audio or prodigy for true 24/192?

If my question sounds ignorant, I probably am! And I'd appreciate it if someone could point me in the right direction.

Thanks in advance.

Upsampling so much requires the CPU at full power constantly; if you have an athlon 64 with cool'and quiet, the slowing of the CPU and the use of other soft causes pops and clics. Keep the sampling rate at 48 KHz; there is no audible sound difference and you avoid noise.

Guys, thanks for the comments. I do not have the card yet so I'm not too sure about the new drivers.

So, is my understanding correct that the new drivers allow 24bit 192KHz output using the "Hign Sample Rate" option through outputs 7 and 8?

And, yea, I'll definitely test it out to see if there is an audible difference. But, I'd just feel a whole lot better knowing that it's there to be tested in the first place.

Thanks guys.

yes you are right. only that black jack next to the optical out utilize the wolfson dac.

the av710 support both 96khz and 192khz for hi sampling mode. so you can choose between them. the newest driver from viaarena.com let you use 192khz.

upsampling wont actaully add anything new to the original sound, but it can sometimes make the music smoother and meaty-er. upsampling to 192khz do takes a lot of cpu power actaully.

and yes i like making up words.
