I need some suggestions on how to make my source better. I have an Apple G4 imac.

G4>Itunes/lossless>USB-Microdac>EMP AE>L3000.

I feel my source remains a weakness in the rig. What can I do to make it better?

Actually, I really love it. I don't notice anything that I can imagine making better. Just looking for suggestions. I remember a few weeks ago when I was waiting for the l3000 from Japan and (AKWOK) went for the DHA3000. I wanted to jump in also, but my computer lacks an airport card and APE. No optical out and that was a bother.

This is indeed a superb system. I don't know how the microdac sounds but given
its price, there might be room for a DAC upgrade? You sure know the good sounding $1K DACs like Bel Canto DAC2/MiniDAC/Benckmark DAC1

My preference of the three will be Bel Canto DAC2
because Benckmark lacks emotion
and Apogee Mini-Dac is too ugly especially when there is G4 beside.

Thought so as well, I think I even linked to AQVOX in another thread ken36 is on

The "problem" with the AQVOX: If you're already used to good source (in my case the DVD 2900) it will not "wow" you. It sounds great, excellent to be exact, boosts redbook performance up a noticable bit, and of course is heavenly with AirTunes. But no "wow" effect. I think that without such effect might be quite happy with it in the long run, will not get bored with it. I smell upgraded AC-cables around the corner though

First tube roller experience. Just tried the EHg set in the EMP AE as Nik recommended and WOW. What a difference over the stock tubes. I am a believer. Outstanding. All of a sudden the amp comes alive and kicks aspens.

These tubes livened thing a lot. I think I just answered my own question
