I notice that my DVD player (Panasonic DVD-A7) runs EXTREMELY hot! (well to me anyway, its hotter to the touch than any other equipment in my entertainment center) I also owned a Toshiba that also had the same problem. Now it doesn't seem to be causing any operational problems (my movies run rock solid) but I'm concerned about any long term affects. Has anyone else noticed that their DVD players run hotter than other equipment? (power amps aside!)

The DVD-A7 is a first generation dvd-audio-player, isn't it? So you probaly shouldn't worry, because these first generation players usually need more chips and other components (integration will be increased in later generations) and thus will also have a higher heat dissipation. Just make sure you don't place it directly onto another hot piece of equipment, because this could ruin the drive in the long run.

Greetings from Munich!
