Why is the serial number on that amp blurred? Is it on the box or is it in the photo? Looks as if it's in the photo. The surroundings are sharp. Strange.

those are the nicest looking headphones ive ever seen, A T even redesigned the hinge section which i felt looked overly bulky before.
if these sound as good as they look and stay around $1000 in the us market i think they will sell very well.

Wow, some interesting times ahead in the AT camp. The Stripped Ebony (Macassar Ebony) wood on the W5000 looks awesome. I wonder if the ear pads on them will be similar to the L3000's. As someone has mentioned earlier, we'll see how long I can resist from purchasing a pair or how fast I can come up with $1200 for them.

All I can say is, thanks to headfi, I can now look at a pair of headphones and go "Wow, those look awesome for only $1200".

I do not think that this cans (W5000) can "replace" the L3000... just another cans, I think another AD2000 in a closed wooden cups...
They will not have the same bass of the L3000 and the same details...
Just my two cents... we will see!

There is really no point in speculating what these new cans have and what they lack, because it is just silly since no one has actually heard them. By the way Nik you got a pm with regards EMP AE tubes.

No one wants to think there might be something better for cheaper on the horizon. Luckily the msrp is an amazing placebo for audiophiles, so it isn't too likely that these new headphones will be seen as better than the L3000.

Very true.
This notwithstanding: Provided the ATH-W5000 sound about as good as the best out there and are as comfortable as some W2002 or L3000, I am sold on these supermodels.
