I have just installed foobar and I used Tag&Rename to tagg ALL of my files there were in itunes. Took me about 6 hours, but now foobar still won't read all my tags. It reads most of them, but not all of them. I had this same problem before I retagged, but the problem was much worse before. I have installed Colums-UI and ID3v2 tag support, no go though. Any ideas why this could be?

Sometimes my Foobar is picky with tags. I end up having to open them in tag & rename.... delete the tag entirely and start over. Sometimes this even takes a few tries, but eventually I manage to reset the code and get Foobar to read it.

So no tags at all show up at all? Are they mp3s that you have run through mp3gain by any chance?

no just some tags don't show up, but yes, infact some of these probably have been through MP3 gain . I had a short stinit with the program a few months back where I did my whole library.

mp3gain is known to cause some problems. It stores the undo information in an otherwise blank apev2 tag. In foobar, apev2 tags take precedence over any id3 tags. Since the apev2 tag doesn't have any of the track tag fields that the id3 tag has, the file appears to have no tags at all in foobar. There are two solutions: 1) Use the new foobar 0.9 beta which has the ability to merge all the tags together if some tags fields are missing from some of the tags. 2) Some how remove the apev2 tags or sync them to the id3 tags. Sorry, but I don't know how to do this, maybe someone else here knows.

Edit: It looks like you should be able to use the free tag utility TagScanner to sync the apev2 tags to match the id3 tags. You should be able to configure it to read from the id3 tags when it loads the files and then have it write to the apev2 tags.

Wow, why did you do that? When I converted from iTunes to Foobar, I just selected all my apple lossless files and converted to FLAC files using dBPoweramp, which is free. A couple of clicks of the mouse, and it was all done, complete with all ID3 auto tagging in Flac...
