I'm just wondering.

Waht do people do on Vacation.

Myzelf, I like to go into the mountains (Alps, Pyrenees and Scottland).
Do climbing, camping even in wintertimes in 3 feet of snow.
Like to do long distance walks and things like that.

What about you?

Peter.

For me, it doesn't seem to really matter. I somehow get sick just about everytime I go on vacation. I did three last year.

The killer one was hopping into the Jeep and driving from home (Denver) through the Four Corners, Painted Desert, Grand Canyon South then the North Rim, then up into Utah to Bryce and Arches then I-70 back home. I made this whole trip without getting sick at all. We stayed at some hotels, some camping-out (including in the Painted Desert which was incredible).

The other two trips I really didn't enjoy as much.

One was a trip to Orlando last September. I really forgot how hot and HUMID it was in September there (and I lived in Florida for 13 years). We went to Universal Studios and Island Adventures and spent a day at Disney (GF had never been before). On this trip I had particularly bad ear problems after the flight that eventually led to both ears being infected and a trip to the clinic in-town.

The worst trip of them all was a quicky to Las Vegas for a long weekend. I made a HUGE mistake by eating at Taco Bell before heading out to the airport and spent the whole trip, minus a few hours to see George Carlin, on the toilet. Though I didn't see much I can certainly recommend the Luxor as a wonderful hotel. Our room, well, at least the bathroom was very nice! It was light years ahead of the room I had on my last visit where I stayed at NY NY.

I've personally never been on a vacation, unless a bag of money falls in my lap, looks like i wont be taking one for many more years, living in New York City can really suck sometimes.

I like to fly to other countries, stay in nice hotels, and watch whatever local TV is on. Seeing other TV is a vacation in itself. I participate in an online trading club where we trade episodes of American TV taped in other countries, so we can see them dubbed, edited different ways, etc.

I enjoy visiting places I have never been. Seeing the tourist spots for a time then getting away from that and absorbing the local culture. I do this when I travel in the US as well. I try to get away from the beaten path. I enjoy cooking and it is always enjoyable to try the local fare.

each year i go overseas, and visit my family and friends. my experience is a bit backwards -- i don't live anywhere near them, so vacation is when i go home.

i look forward to it all year. i love the bagels and the snow in the US. i have great friends there. i get to see my family, drive fast cars, and have a brilliant time.

but then i get to come back to sunny western australia, land of smooth black roads (all the better to ride on), white sand (all the better to lie on), blue oceans (all the better to swim in), and tanned women (all the better to ride on).
