As cool as the Nano looks, I still prefer my iAudio U2, which actually has a radio, voice recorder, and line-in recording.

And is smaller.

Anyone know if the iPod Nano can play WMAs, or is Apple still ignoring Microsoft on that front?

I want to know is when the 5 gen ipod is coming out. I heard there is another expo on Sept 20. Could be completely wrong. I just can't imagine there wont be a new one by Christmas.

Looks like an awesome product to me. I don't really find any fault with my current 20gb U2 edition iPod (greyscale) right now, so I won't get one. My mom wants an iPod though, and I'm sure she'll love this version. I was always hesitant to recommend the iPod mini because she might drop it and because it was the last iPod without a color screen. And I never wanted her to get anything besides an iPod because she is pretty computer-illiterate and would never take the time and effort to manage and transfer her own music. Now I can definitely tell her to buy the Nano without reservation. Looks good Apple, and way to come out with the first (I believe) large-capacity flash player. The shuffle pretty much sucked, but this looks like a nice way to atone for that. Now I just have to echo the request for the SigmaTel audio processor in the Nano.

Actually, Jobs is on record for saying the iPod will support WMA (early iPods had the WMA icon hidden) if WMA reached market saturation of 50%. Okay, your right, zero chance.

Macworld Paris was originally rumored to have a Steve Jobs keynote. Some rumors had todays 'media event' to be all about the phone and later in the month the other announcements would be made. Well the keynote is off so the rumor now is speedbumps on the Macs. We'll see, but it's difficult to imagine another iPod revealing so soon and especially without Jobs.

Of course 99% of the teenagers will stop eating to save up lunch money for this thing.

Unless they are spoiled rich kids like those that go to my HS. Then they'll just say "hey mom/dad, get me one of these. It will go great with my $500 clothes from Abercrombie and Hollister!"

Anyways, I like the design and all that, but the whole "headphone jack on the bottom" thing would annoy me much too much.

I don't know if you're just doing a little chain yankin', but I like it!
