Need a good DC adapter for my TA 4.5v

Would you consider making your own psu? IMO, you would better off making your own than buying just about any off the shelf. A good reg. psu should improve the performance of the TAH.

What about one for the cosmic? I have the standard 5v wall wart at home but I wanted to get one for work so I don't have to lug it around.

It says 5V DC but could i use say 12 or 15 volts? Will it improve the sound at all?

It's the old cosmic by the way.

The Cosmic has a DC/DC converter and is designed for 5 to 6 volt input ONLY. Higher voltage won't improve the sound and may make it really terrible, as in very quiet. It cou;d burn something out.

The New TAH's can easily handle 12 volts and up to 15 is OK.

I got the Travelers Bag for taking my Cosmic and all the accessories to and from work. It has a nice, custom place for both the adaptor and battery pack and opens in the back for easily switching between AC and battery power. Everything, including the portable source, stays in the bag during operation, taking up very little space on my desk. Very nice.

So 6 volts is ok? All the wall warts I've seen at Rat Shack are either 4.5 or 6 volts, no 5 volts. Should I get the 4.5 or 6?

I have the traveller bag and it is quite convenient. It's not so much to carry the wall wart around, it's the taking out of the bag and setting it up that i'd like to avoid. It's kind of tough to get to the wall socket at work so I'd like to be able to just leave an adapter plugged in and keep the cable up near my desk.

The dc output of a wall wart still goes thru the dc-dc converter?

Yes!! That's why you need something between 4.5 and 6 volts.

If you put rechargeable batteries in the pack, you've got 4.8 volts. Will work great. Alkalines start out at 6 volt. Works great.

Point: A 4.5 to 6 volt, regulated and filtered preferably, PSU works great. Headroom has the same one that came with the Cosmic for $12.95 if you don't want to look hard or chance the wrong thing.

Of course, the BS1 does by-pass the converter.
