I've searched and downloaded, installed, uninstalled, searched, downloaded and installed again but can't seem to figure this out.

I downloaded the ASIO plugin (tried both .dll and .exe versions) and put the file in my components folder. I get foobar to recognize it as an Output option, but when I go to the settings the pulldown menu is empty. Does this mean I can't use ASIO with my devices? I have a HeadRoom Overture which I want to be my primary device, but I also have a Santa Cruz soundcard. It does not recognize either.

What am I missing?

Thanks. The off-line control panel recognizes my device but I'm not sure what it's doing. I don't really notice any improvements. Maybe it's just my ears.

Those devices don't have ASIO drivers so that's why they don't show up. Normally pro soundcards have those drivers or if somebody has written ones specifically for it.

ASIO4ALL is not really an ASIO driver but a wrapper for kernel streaming.

I forget if the default USB driver is bit perfect. If it is, then there should be no difference in quality on the Overture.

Thanks lan. Perhaps it is bit perfect already as it sounds pretty nice without the kernel streaming.

probably because I'm trying to talk the talk without knowing how to walk the walk.

Anyway, in the ASIO4ALL offline control panel I can see my device (Overture) listed as "USB Audio Device" under that I have a listing for "Out 2x 32-48kHz, 16 bits" and "In 2x 11.0-48kHz. 16 bits". However, next to the "Out" listing ASIO4ALL lists it as "beyond logic" (pretty funny that the symbol for beyond logic is the sign for "woman", if not quite a bit sexist!), while the the In listing is listed as "running". Does this mean that ASIO4ALL is not working with this device?

"Beyond Logic" usually shows up when your device does not have WDM driver, which ASIO4All requires. For example, when my Lynx card was installed using the default driver (non-WDM), I got "beyond logic" notice, but when I installed the WDM driver from Lynx website, it worked.

So you have to find out whether your device has a WDM driver floating out there somewhere. Give the manufacturer a call/mail.

The Overture uses a generic USB driver. I'll contact HeadRoom to see if it's actually bit perfect.
