Hey Guys.....

What a week i've just had...

As manyh of you will know, our queen has just celebrated her 50th aniversary of her reign / sovereignty here in the UK. Subsequently the whole country has been joining her in the jubilee celebrations.

Most people in the country got Monday and Tuesday off this week off. Personally, I had to work extra hard as two of my colleagues were off on holiday so I got lumbered with there jobs

My ship was open 5 days this week (Sat, Sun, Mon, Tues & Wed) so as well as having to work, i've had to split my time between the two. Talk about headless chicken mode

I got some bad news on Tuesday. Received an e-mail from DuPont Chemical of Switzerland. Apparently they are the trademark holders of the namre KEVLAR and they gave me 21 days to cease using it or legal action would be taken. BUGGER!
So, i've had to pull both my websites down, close both my internet accounts and remove all references to it, hence the new name here. Ah well, "It never rains, but it pours" as we say.

On a lighter note. I dropped by the local emporium on THursday during my break at work (rare event that) and dropped a load of cash on another pair of Nordost Red Dawn I/Cs, a pair of Senn HD600s (picking those up midweek) and a Sugden Headmaster. So i'm quite pleased now. Theres a four-week wait for the Sugdens at the moment so i'll have to be patient for a while. I suppose that more than makes up for the hassle of this week.

wow. i assume jude changed your name and kept the post count, now the real fun begins: you're just asking for a custom title
wink.gif

"bulletproof"
"he fought the law, and the law won"
and my personal favorite: "tm"

are your red dawns the newer version? the old version never worked for me, the "new" ones keep the speed without the big frequency tip up in my setup. have you gotten to try the quattrofils? probably my favorite nordost cable.

nice to see you back around kevl... er, trawlerman. always enjoy your posts.

best,
carlo.

Hey Carlo

Nice to hear from you mate. I like the custom title idea

Not only did I have to apologise to DuPont for using their tradename but also to my ISP who threatened to close my account. The legala action was also thretened to them and as they are a major telecoms company they were less than impressed by my antics.

Re the Nordosts. They are a brand new pair so i'd expect them to be pretty decent once i;ve broken them in. I've got Silver cables through out now.

Chord ProDac between Krell Transport and DAC.
Nordost Red Dawn between Krell DAC and Audiolab Pre
Nordost Red Dawn between Audiolab Pre and Tube Monoblocks
QED Genesis Silver spiral spkr cable (2x5m) betwwen Monoblocks and ProAc Response 1SCs

A pretty decent hi-end system then that deserves the best cables I can afford/lay hands on.

I'm pretty much set now and don't intend changing much once I get the Sugden in as well.

Sound As Ever!

Favourite Quote of the week: "So does your Krell CD player sound better than my Bang&Olufsen" An uninitiated work colleague. Peasant!

Stupid du Ponts. I guess that's what you can expect from a bunch of monarchists, eh? Too bad they didn't meet Madame Guillotine. ...

By the way, it'd be very hard for them to sue you since you're not (I assume) involved in the chemical industry in any way. Were you even using the name for commercial purposes?

Good grief. I want to be the guy at DuPont whose job is to search the net looking for people using their trademarked names as internet nicks.

I certainly hope they have some sort of killer innovation in the works, because it sure looks like they don't have much to do! BTW, I thought KeVlaR was a really cool nick. RIP, and my condolances.

that's bad luck.. silly how they are threatening legal actions on a name like KeVlaR. bullies.

did they atleast pay for the domain name?

Kerelybonto....... I was just using it as a nick. I work for a large electrical retailer. I originally picked the name because of its usage in certain speaker cones.

Bit petty on their part but all it means is that I will now try to avoid buying any product with that material in it. Not wanting to line their pockets....

BeeEss..... Cheers man, it was a cool nick but i'll have to let it go. Hey what's in a name?

I've gotten more used to using the name of my ship "Arctic Corsair" on my emails and stuff recently so the loss of the is not so much of a loss but a hinderance in having to remove it from everywhere.

BTW, the new nick of Trawlerman on here is in refernce to my ship. A 1960 Deep-Sea Trawler.

Taoster....... My actual domain name didn't include that so no problems there. But my username with the ISP did so it had to be changed.

Haha, run and hide, legoman!

Yeah, Trawlerman, what they did was just ridiculous. Basically, they had no right to make you stop using the name, but they knew you probably would be intimidated as hell and do whatever they said. That really is pathetic on their part.

Too bad you can't even build a bomb to send to their corporate headquarters without buying their product. ...

[And, yes, that was a joke. I don't generally blow people up for things like that.]
