Maybe he didn't like Science/Math? IMO, English is the opposite of Science/Math, or at least that's how I seem to see Math and English, as two very different worlds. Though it's fine for someone to be a member of both worlds, many people are.

Coolvij,

That is a very admirable achievement, very impressive. I hope you enjoy it, and make sure to bring your headphones and your music!

Thanks, guys!

BTW, as for music, I'm planning on using the new MD I have on the way..............with my amp and K-501s.

I think bringing all the CDs will be a bit of problem - the dorms at IMSA are a bit cramped, and I'm willing to sacrifice a bit of sound quality for convenience anyways.

My most intense listening occurs on the weekends anyways, and I can always go home on the weekends....................

Hey, they're just as big as my college dorm room was!

(Plus how many college dorm rooms have their own private bathroom/shower?

). But yeah, you don't have a lot of room for other stuff. Plus you have to remember that you're going to be surrounded by 13- to 18-year-old kids, and no matter how "smart" they are, some will do stupid things. Like stealing other people's stuff

Have you been on a tour yet, vij?

I've been on a tour, and I loved the place.......the only thing that I regret is that I lose all my good friends, basically, and I lose jazz band.

Definitely; I used to play trumpet, and quit when I was younger. Regret it to this day. Although I also regret that I played trumpet instead of saxe or guitar, but that's another story...

Vij, I'm pretty sure there will be opportunities to play some jazz saxe. Check out this page:

Jazz
There are opportunities for jazz exploration, rehearsal and performance based on student interests and skills. The nature of these opportunities varies from semester to semester.

Hopefully you'll be able to get involved in some jazz practice/performance somehow!

I would not worry about losing your other friends too much. Personally, my closest friends are still the people I met in grade school. I have great friends from college, but nobody comes close to the friends I met early (I met my alter-ego in kindergarten, and my other best friend the next year). By 9th grade we were all in different schools, and we each went to colleges that were thousands of miles apart. Nevertheless, we are still best friends. I suggest using some instant messenger service to keep in touch. It really makes a difference to see that your friend is online, even if you do not talk to them. It is a tangible link to them...using it you can keep up with them while you are away, and upon coming back you will find yourself more up to date. Then again, nothing beats an old fashioned letter, as we used to write way back when I was in boarding school....
Anyway, my point is that you will never lose your closest friends, even if you are a world apart. Look at my best friend and I: He is somewhere in the Red Sea with the navy, and I am in Vladivostok, and we still email each other every other day or so. Technology is great -- use it.

Ok, just to keep the discussion alive - I'll be taking private jazz lessons anyhow........so even if there is no actual jazz band, I can still fine tune my skills........

I already have an offer from my old teachers to play with their adult band.......for $$$.

I haven't heard back from them *yet*..........the first part of the math section was fairly easy, but the second stumped after about 10 questions (It started with basic trig and went up to calculus.....so I was totally lost after a while).......

The science placement test was very...........unusual, for a science test, at least.

I think I did all right, but I haven't heard back from IMSA yet......
