What to you guys are some of the best recorded and produced albums of all time. For me it would be (no paticular order):

Pink Floyd - DSOTM
Micheal Jackson (Pretty much any of them)
Metallica - S&M

Dave Matthews Band's Under the Table & Dreaming has the best SQ in my collection.

Massive Attack - Mezzanine

I'm torn:

Massive Attack - Mezzanine - Ruthlessly uncovers any weakness in a system.
Beth Gibbons - Out of Season - Just generally gorgeous recording.

Jennifer Warnes - Famous Blue Raincoat

Loreena Mckinnett - The Book of Secret

The Klezmatics - Jews With Horns. fantastically well recorded and mastered, and it's amazing music to boot.

Eric Clapton's Unplugged is darn good for a live album.

Very few "old" recordings strike me as good but here are some that surprised me:

Tommy by The Who
Let it be naked by The Beatles
Dave Bruebeck collection
Broken English by Marianne Faithful

Some soundtracks are superb, including these:

American Beauty... and its in HDCD too!
Gladiator
Master and Commander

Modern recordings are a mixed bag generally but my favourites for sq include:

Concrete Love by Julia Fordham
Most Diana Krall stuff, no, all Diana Krall stuff...
Legends - Prokofiev: Violin Conertos - Suites Ricci - Ansermet
Medulla by Bjork, a very well recorded album and my favourite of hers
Almost forgot Sinead O' Connor and The Cranberries...

Just a few favourites

I can't really understand the fuzz about DSOTM having a "great" recording. I find the imaging odd and the sound somehow clogged. It's good, but clearly doesn't have the sweetness and air a great recording should have.

Alison Krauss - New Favorite
