I was fortunate enough (er, i think you'd call it fortune, maybe misfortune) to find Head-Fi early on, before the first audition/purchase. My first pair was the HD600. Followed shortly by a pair of Grado RS-2s.
Hey, smashcasi, ya know there's a whole section dedicated to amplifiers and sources, right?

WHen I look at the cost of this pursuit I rationalize a bit. Every hobby I have ever had from rebuilding vintage cars to golf has eaten into my wallet.
In the end I have decided that if the pleasure one derives balances with the money spent then it is worthwhile. After all the bills were paid, the kids graduated from college, and food is on the table; why not enjoy a bit
I like your way of thinking John_JCB... I don't think my prospective girlfriend will though... Audio doesn't interest her... I'm trying to convince her to listen to my rig but she doesn't wanna know
Welcome to Head-fi! Upon finding the online audio community just half a year ago, it enabled me to rediscover my home and portable rigs that were just sitting there collecting dust for many years and I keep wondering lately why I have ever lost interest in such a nice hobby... Even though my equipment aren't state of the art, nevertheless they give me great musical pleasure...
and my wallet has greatly reduced weight again since hahaha!
