So I know many of you wish there were more reviews on the higher-end external soundcards and computer peripheral recording equipment. Here's my first contribution.

Do not purchase the ESI QuataFire if it were the last soundcard on the face of the planet. For the 10 seconds I listened to it via the lineout, it sounded pretty good. I kid you not. 10 seconds. Then the problems started. Don't ask; there were more problems than I can count.

Anyway, I e-mailed Tech-support. I was happy they gave me a quick response. Took them less than a day. I wasn't sure what to think of the actual response, though.
I would advise the you to return the QuataFire and use a different Firewire
unit.

Sorry, but we have too many problems with the QuataFire.

I'm still not sure what to make of this. But when a company tells their customers to return their product and use someone else's... yeaaah. No.

In the end, this isn't a bad thing. It's actually good. It means you guys have fewer choices to suffer over. :p

(Note: I am not actually completely turned off to ESI, mostly because the Waveterminal U24 is an excellent card. I'm a forgiving consumer like that.)
