I picked up Chris Cornell's "Euphoria Morning" the other day at a used CD store and I really like it the more I listen to it. It's defintely not Soundgarden, but you can tell the influences he has had like the Beatles. Highly recommended.

Speaking of Cornell...what's the status on Rage Against The Machine's next album with him as vocalist?

I'd like to know also. Apparently, Cornell left RATM just after agreeing to headline a big festival with them and said he won't continue with RATM. The combo sounds good on paper. Wonder what went wrong.

From my understanding, SG broke up because Cornell wanted to lighten up the tunes and the lead guitarist, thayall (sp?) wanted to stay "heavy." I doubt Cornell would've worked well with the hard edged RATM.

I'd sing for Rage if I was given a chance......I've done covers as a singer for their songs with my friend (a guitarist) and his band, and I sound considerably different than Zack.

I have a lower-pitched voice, and my screams are more angry yells than pissed-off shrieks........

too bad my mom would NEVER sign a release form for me to sing in a band like "that.."

Try Zack's first band, Inside Out, for his version of yells verses shrieks. My short lived, ill fated band covered a Rage song. Deceptively un-simple. Anyhow, I liked Euphoria Morning when I first heard it, but went back to Soundgarden. More of an old habits die hard reaction than a comment on the music, which is well done.

If you liked Euphoria Morning, I would suggest the Temple of the Dog album as well. That's probably one of my favorite CDs, and it kept me waiting for Euphoria Morning for a long time. I wasn't disapointed

Chris Cornell just seems to be pretty good at breaking bands up (TD, SG, RATM collab, etc.)

I don't think that statement is justified at all. Temple of the Dog was not a band, it was a tribute project, it was never supposed to last. I don't think RATM falling apart can be considered as a band breaking up either, since they never played any shows or released anything. Not everybody works well with everyone else, particularly in such an emotional situation as being in a band. And Soundgarden was together in various forms for what, 10 years? I don't think that reflects badly on Cornell.

I'm sorry that struck a nerve. That was one of my unfair/stupid statements like "Humans are good at dying" or "I can turn water into urine". I just pick on Chris Cornell because he was the eptiome of 90s metal to me and then he stopped making music for a while.

Rage + Cornell are still going to release their album, it was pretty much finished when Cornell made his decision... Cornell decided he would rather spend time with his family then become a rock star again (I'm sure there is more to it then that though)..

Biggie.

Yes, the Rage/Cornell studio project's still going to be released. I flipped on the radio for a few minutes today and the DJ said he might play one of the tracks from the promo disc he has. If I catch it I'll let you know how it sounds.

I was/am a huge Soundgarden fan and also loved the Temple of the Dog sideshow, and Rage was one of the few contemporary bands I still liked. So hopefully the Rage/Cornell thing'll sound good and maybe they'll decide to give it another shot.

We'll see.

I own Euphoria Morning and though I like it, I must say that it doesn't really come near SG: SuperUnknown when it comes to playtime on my stereo

perhaps that says something about my general mood too

Yes, and therefore it doesn't even approach Badmotorfinger, my favorite Soundgarden album. That's why I was so excited to hear about the Cornell/Rage thing. ...
