I'm in the market for a new soundcard (for mainly gaming/music playback/dvds).

I'm definately going with a creative card and am wondering about some stuff with the audigy 2 zs vs audigy 2 nx.

What I'm wondering is how the headphone output on the nx compares to the normal "front" output on the audigy2 zs? I'm not really an audiophile (a500s are the perfect set for me) but I want decent audio with no background noise.

The audigy2 zs outputs are fine to me (mine recently cooked itself) but i'm wondering if I should switch.

I like having the dedicated headphone out so I can mute my speakers automagically when I plug in the headphones, but I can deal with some sort of switch if the headphone out is lower quality than the audigy2 zs'.

One more question if anyone knows:
If I set up the card to not always have digital out (for positional/EAX stuff in games) and have PowerDVD set to SPDIF bypass... when I'm watching a DVD should I just get my normal digital out to my receiver and when gaming/ listening to music get my discrete/headphone out?
