Awesome review, haven't seen one this detailed of the M-80 for awhile!

I suggest you try bending the headband/cups a bit more though, the chances you'll break them are very, very slim. They're practically indestructible when it comes to that...but there is of course a limit. It really helped a lot with comfort for me though, on a good day I can wear them for hours at a time without them getting too terribly uncomfortable.

I can wear these headphones for hours now no problem. It was only when I first got them that they created some pain after 2+ hours of listening.
It is odd that you are having cable issues. I have never had any issues with the supplied cables. I plug them into my laptop, portable amps and my friends Galaxy S2 without any problems. Maybe you have a defective unit?

They take a while to break-in. Took me a week before I stopped having buyers remorse since they hurt my ears so much. Took me a month of listening when burn-in showed its face and I realized just how special these headphones really are. And the button-cables do weird things depending on your source. I got the V-80 which comes with the Android cable and an audio-only cable, so no problems there, but I did have some initial problems with the Android cable and my PC. Flipping the cable around so the 45 degree part goes into the headphone fixes this.

Otherwise, great review!

Nice review. These and the Q40s are definitely on my short list for my next purchase.

Thanks a lot guys :). I realise that my negative experiences will not be shared by everyone but equally thought worth mentioning since they were still likely to affect people. This is the least amount of negative issues i have found on a pair of headphones, perhaps I brought too much attention to the negatives. The comfort issue isn't going away for me after 2 months though and I wear them all day every day at work, at first I couldn't wear them for more than 45 mins, now I can get double that but it's still annoying. It sounds like the included cables with the V-80 are sensible but the M-80 ones are annoying as hell and no it's not a defective unit.
I think I have fully broken them in and gotten used to them now and the sound is brilliant, in some ways they are a more pleasant listen than my Denon AH-D7000. Not as detailed or as much bass depth but more pleasantly forward and with less sibilance, that's pretty crazy for the price. These are my favourite headphones at the moment and they blew the Sennheiser HD25-1 II's out of the water for me but there are a few others I want to try now.
Again thanks for reading everyone!! Enjoy the rest of the weekend. I am off to watch the Avengers, this time in 3D (best movie I've seen in years!!)
