What's in your opinion the best Sony inear headphones?

@franci2105 Unfortunately, I haven't had the opportunity to review many Sony IEM. I've only briefly demo'd a few. I think Z1R is the best on a technical level, M9 for a more traditional stage IEM, and personally, the EX1000 for a unique presentation. Sorry, but there's no clear answer!

excellent review, i agree the best single DDs are like the best naturally aspirated engines...dying breed of driver, but legendary in their engagement factor.

@deviedevie Unfortunately not, especially if not EQ'd.
Metal is typically poorly recorded and mastered and the EX1000 really does not play well in that genre. As well, metal fails utilize what makes the EX1000 good: staging and a great sense of texture. You would be better served by BA IEMs. For about the same price, the Moondrop Blessing 2 may the the way to go.

Very good review! I love mine and agree with your assessment. I think single DD are making comeback these days.

@Ollie the bear Thanks! Yea I hope single DD makes a comback for sure! DUNU is make some very interesting products that have a lot of potential. Not sure if I'll get a chance, but I'd love to try the DUNU Zen!
