Thank you for a very honest review, you are bringing up some very important negative points that I haven't seen elsewhere and would be good for potential owners to know. I like the no bs tell it as is approach. too many reviews on this site inundated with vague poetic ramblings

I have this headphone. Yes, it is not the most comfortable headphone. But it is not as bad as stuartfang said. One should try it!
 
I workout a lot and use it while I am on the treadmill. The bass is very fast, the sound is balance, accurate and very detail (except a bit high in treble), soundstage is large.
 
I will sacrifice a bit of uncomfortable to have great sound! Just like anything in life, you can't have everything! I am no sound engineers but maybe Sony has to design this phone in this shape which is not the most comfortable to have such great sound.
