Have you been able to compare it to the wireless version?
Just curious since I prefer my original Momentum to the wireless, which I felt has inferior sound quality overall. 

Awesome review Matt! I was on the fence about these for a while now. Because like you & others I bought the original Mo's & my ears were SOOO uncomfortable I sold them about a month later. Luckily they still fetched a premium price even used! So I'm going to jump in & purchase the Mo2's.

Great Review Matt. I can say from two weeks with this can, that I also liked it very much. But the pads are still too small for me. And yes the headband can be troublesome hard sometimes. I had to send it back. The pads are 5.5 cm inner hight and I would need 7 cm like the HD650 has. Maybe Momentum 3 will have that.

With regard to soundstage and imaging, of course there will always be a compromise when using closed headphones especially when it comes to sound stage. I would put the momentum 2 at better than average for a closed can and imaging I call one of it's strengths. 
 
@pietcux...sorry that they didn't work out for you. I empathize with you because I usually struggle with larger headphones with my medium sized head. While Sennheiser didn't accomodate everyone with this release, I do feel that they have made a huge improvement over the original. It's now one of my favorite and most used headphones. 

How would you compare them against the HD 598?

So is this the closed back counterpart to the hd650?

DryHopped...not exactly but within reason yes. Similar tonality in the mids and still has the Sennheiser house sound. The 650 will be more resolving of the music and offer more scale with better amps. 

Interesting but well organised review. I might get the Momentum 2 since I currently have the Momentum On Ears.

These are already on my list. Will probably be the next purchase I make, although IDK when that will be. Im still a poor college student, hell I already spend more than I should thanks to these forums, but hey this is head-fi! Where wallets go to die!

Nice review and good to hear its such an improvement over the original. Pity the pads aren't larger, 5.5cm means they are going to squeeze my ears.
