Regarding the “finicky eartip placement” con, I found that the Spinfit tips tend to mitigate it best. My personal favorite tips are the CP145s but the bore size is just a bit too large and they’ll come off in my ears sometimes. My canals are different as well, 11.2mm (right) and 11.8mm (left), so I’m currently auditioning the intermediate sizes from Azla for best isolation/comfort.

Try putting a rubber ring from another bore around the bore of the spinfits.
