Actually I hear a great potential in the sound, but the cable ruins it for sure. Wondering about genuine earpads, but they're nearly half the price of the headphones.
Don't have Portas myself, but I do know someone who has. @HiFiChris if you can wait till friday, I'll tell you.
Portas will have TON more bass that's for sure. But I remember the sound being too muffled for classics.
If you can do a short comparison on Friday/the weekend, I'd be very happy.
Owning the Porta Pros and having used them a few summers, I know their sound quite well (bassy, dark, muffled), so I am very interested in your opinion on the Koss vs. the Senns.
Although my only purpose for the Porta Pro is for sports from time to time whenever I feel the need for cheap lightweight on-ear headphones, there is some kind of love/hate relationship between both of us and I have to admit that I can only use it with EQ for most genres (lows down, treble up) - stock sound is just too muffled for most music. Though, they are a bit better (slightly higher resolution with slightly faster bass, slightly less veil) than Sennheiser's PX 100 and 100-II, although sound signature is almost identical.
@HiFiChris - Hi, I haven't forgotten, but the friend's Portas are broken so I tried to fix them, but it's taking some time. Based on left ear experience, there's indeed much more bass, and slightly less treble. It's like inverted HD414, not so much mids and lots of bass.
The cable mod is scheduled on tomorrow, hopefully I'll have more concrete results by then.
Cheers
