Thanks D-P. Learning as I go. A long way to get to the calibre of some of the really good reviewers though

Don't be so modest. You've come quite a long way.

Good review. I agree on every point you wrote. I tried almost every headphone below 350$ and HD600 is absolutely my favorite with the HD650 coming very close. Thanks!

Thanks Casey - not sure they would be quick enough for your metal though. They are excellent for most music - including classical rock IMO - but they may not quite have the pace for your genres.

Simple question Brooko, which gain setting do you use on your NFB 12 - if there is one? I have a nfb model and I'm worried that the high gain setting seems to be rated 3x over the max power handling of the HD600, while the low gain seems to put out 20mW

Depends on the music.  For classical I often use high gain - just to give me more head room - especially for really dynamic tracks.  For more modern music (eg highly compressed / loudness wars / less dynamic) I mostly use low gain.

Excellent review as usual. I look for to your opinions about cans before anyone else.

Your review is what pushed me to buy a pair of HD 600's back in 2012. I still own that same pair after all this time. Many headphones have come & gone in my collection but these will stay. Anyway, just wanted to say thanks for the awesome review!

Great review!
If you still own a Fiio X5, what's your opinion of it's pairing?
Are these -ok- for on the go listening?
