a lot of the younger crowd getting into audiophile grade headphones are mostly concerned about bass, do you think this phone caters to this crowd?

They definitely don't.

What are you saying?
They have enough bass without distorting the entire sound of the cans.
They do have a bid bump to the bass that I like.
But more bass then Grado

Their bass isn't bad, but it's what I'd call slightly below neutral, and that certainly doesn't cater to the "mostly concerned about bass" crowd.

Sorry for the slow response, but no. These headphones do not cater to any bass crowd.

i don't think i have great sound card on my laptop......do you think i should get an fiio E7 because of its DAC or maybe just an E11 will be fine. In short is the DAC that important in your opinion?

I haven't heard the 598 on either the e7 or the e11, but it was unimpressive on the e5 at best. BotByte has a good point... Anything more than an e5 ought to work. An e7 ought to work fine for both rolls (DAC/amp), and if you want more you can always upgrade that with the e9 amp/dock.

Hey I wanted to know which amp would be better for these headphones:
The NuForce uDAC 2 or the FiiO e7?I intend to listen to them plugged to the laptop so internal battery and compatibility with an mp3 player are not my concern. Any feedback would be appreciated.

UDAC2
But both aren't much of amps. An E11 would work better

The thing is I want a DAC/Amp combo not to have too much clutter, also because my Thinkpad's soundcard isn't that great. Anything under $150 that might be better suited than the uDAC 2 ?

You don't need a DAC if the can's don't need it.
They're mostly for Turntables. Just make sure your digital files are good quality

I think source ought to have a higher priority than an amp. These headphones can pick out the weaker music easily.

Do you really find them comfortable? I get so hot ears from these and there's an annoying plastic bump inside the earcups :S

I find them very comfortable. The bumps inside are a non-issue to me.
