You forgot the most important part, in fact: thanking me for influencing your buying decision and also for adding the new Schiit products to the Head Gear section. lol =P

Thanks for the review!  I've got my Modi 2 Uber on the way and can't wait to see it sitting under my Magni 2 Uber on my desk :)

@B_Rich hope you'll enjoy your Schiit stack as much as I am enjoying mine! The @__@ silent black background is awesome.

By the way, black background does not refer to a lack of computer noise; it refers to aspects of sound of headphones and other audio equipment. However, there is no official definition for the term.

Some would say it simply means a low noise floor, but there are many other meanings as well.

Noise floor so low that I would have to destroy my ears if I were to try to find it while listening to music then X)

But like I said, there are many other meanings. For example...

"The subtleties of the leading edge of notes, note decay, reverberant space, hall depth, etc., that contribute to a realistic rendering of music, seem to be revealed in contrast to dead silence (blackness). But it's debatable whether the absence of this desireable attribute is caused by a higher noise floor, or by false signatures imposed by lesser equipment at the threshold of audibility. For example, when the music isn't playing, a good SS system is generally quieter than even a great tube system due to tube noise. But to me at least, the tube system can be just as effective at communicating the subtleties of music on the verge of silence. In any case, the presence of modest tube noise in the background does not make it any less "black" sounding."

Where is the Schiit joke? Done.

Nice aesthetics on these Schiit units. Well done with the origami Gaff.

Nice review!

I have Schiit Modi 2 Uber/Magni 2 Uber stack hooked up to my computer for CD/FLAC listening, and I love the clean, detailed sound.

The only downside (if you can call it that) is that it is going to make me want to upgrade my headphones (I currently have a pair of Sennheiser HD 558).

Hi,

Can anyone give me their impression of Schitt stack vs O2+ODAC? I'm having the Nwa combo and perfectly happy with it, but with all the good talk about Schitt Modi + Magni, I'm really curios.

O2+ ODAC = Smaller in size, DIY/self repair capability, portability option.

M2 Stack = Stronger output power, better desktop setup, nicer look.

Sonically both are very identical, but after updates on original Magni and Modi, M2 stack should sound slightly better than O2/ODAC.

So at the end of the day, do you want a desktop setup or a portable/transportable setup?

Also consider the price factor to your location.

Quick question: what's up with the different coloration between your M2U and Magni 2?

@RazrLeaf
The Uber versions have brushed aluminum while the non-Uber versions have painted steel.
