Thank you for your report. The performance specs and features are amazing for the price. I’m 99% certain I’ll be ordering the Magni+, but would like your feedback, before hitting the buy button. I recently purchased the Nitsch Piety, but ran into a problem. I was streaming Tidal via my iPhone 14, to a Modi 3+, into the Piety, into ATH-M50x phones. The problem was not being able to fully utilize the full rotation of the volume control. Even when set to low gain, I found that the volume was only usable from 7 o’clock to 9 o’clock(IOW, too sensitive) - anything higher was way too loud. The iPhone defaults to its full output in this configuration, and there is no way to attenuate it. I noticed that the Magni+ has three gain settings, which brings me to my question. Do you feel the -8 dB gain setting will solve my problem?

I experienced the same thing here.
I use a variable output dac at times and this helps reduce or eliminates this issue.
Most dacs are fixed and unless u provide some sort of attenuation your stuck with this.
The Magni + does not have this issue with any of may dacs and some are 2.1 volts and higher.
I think Schiit has the taper of its pot set to almost perfect for most of us.
I would think the other gain settings will work ok for you as well.
If not you can return etc..

Let us know.

It is indeed good enough to last a lifetime without spending another dime.

@inmytaxi Thank you for your vote of confidence. It’s supposed to be delivered today, and I can’t wait to fire it up. I will be using it with a Modi 3E, which I expect will be a dynamite combo.

The Magni+ arrived yesterday, which only has 12 hrs. on the clock, so these are my preliminary impressions. I used an iPhone 14 streaming Tidal HiFi, via a Modi 3E, into the Magni+, to ATH-M50x phones. If I had to choose two words to describe its character, it would be honesty and neutrality. The signal is amplified with no additions, subtractions, or colorations. It has a smooth, dynamic, and effortless delivery, totally devoid of hardness. Bass is controlled with an iron grip - it’s taut, clean, and detailed. I am truly amazed at how good this little amp sounds. Despite its low cost, its performance is 100% high-end. Thank you Schiit Audio.

Just what an amp should be: stright wire with gain...nothing more, nothing less. "taunt, clean and detailed"..
Enjoy the amp!

Good to hear about the pot. I had two Magni 3’s, both with noisy, crackly pots. Not so with the iFi Zen Can, so I know it’s possible to avoid. I’ll give this amp a try.

Does the amp sound transparent (as in doesn't affect the sound signature of a headphone)? I have the HD 660s and they're already fairly warm sounding so I'm trying to avoid a warm sounding amp.

@Dust by Monday IMO this is a neutral amp and should pair well with most any headphone. Amps in general dont really change the characteristics of a transducer as much as other parts of the chain, especially your source material. We all hear differently and have our bias's...amps IMO should be basically a straight wire with gain..and I think the Schiit Magni + meets this definition very well.

I like how they moved the headphone output to the left away from the volume knob

The new silver is quite the downgrade. Newer products are not supposed to go down in quality.

The look is a downgrade in photos I agree. The new painted look is actually an improvement in black, it's darker and more uniform. Most Schiit I believe is requested to be black.

Despite the color change, the + is not a downgrade.

After your 4th or 12th device, the lack of color consistency becomes a feature, not a bug.

Imo the finish to me looks absolutely great. We all have opinions and likes and dislikes. Enjoy the music.

I haven't seen the silver paint. I loved the silver bare metal, and probably any painted look is going to be a downgrade if that is your preference.

The Magni Piety looks great, and I would say if the Schiit units are painted the same way, some might prefer it.

I would like to see special editions, like Grado does, beginning with a Florida Edition. Light blue, pink and yellow with a special green version that has NOS transistors inside. Magni or Vali, Modi or Mimby, Loki.

I hope to see a lot of design fun coming out of the Schiit shop now that painting is opening the door.

This is interesting. Not sure if it's really "the only" amp needed, but definitely a solid choice at this price point, and I like the form factor as well
