I knew they were good

twister6 they are similar in design to the DuoZA, except the tips of the Puro IEM500 are curved at the end.

I will do my best to try and get some pictures of that and of them in my ears as soon as I can.  I then will add them to the review.

Like I mentioned, they are much more comfortable than they look.  I really like the fit.

I'm going the CIEM route but.. these really are.. beautiful.

Looks promising...got the Soundsoul S-018 based on your other thread -- very nice value!

How do these stack up to the other $50+ iems you've heard?

GearMe glad to hear my suggestion of the S-018 worked out for you, the S-018 is my favorite budget IEM.

The only other IEM I can compare it to is the first gen A151 (I have not tried the 2nd gen).

And IMO, I would take the Puro IEM500 over the first gen A151.  The Puro has such a clean crisp sound, but with such a perfect amount of deep bass and still be a neutral / natural sound signature.

Nice review...how easy are they to drive ...?

smith thanks, I tried my best to do these IEMs justice with my review.

They are easy to drive.  They are meant to be paired with a smart phone, thus the microphone.

Thanks for the review BP!  I'm just getting into IEMs and still trying to get a good seal on these even with the large tips, but they sound pretty good so far.

For those interested, Comply support says 400-series tips will fit these.

Also, Puro chat support says the rated impedance on these is 17 ohms per channel.

Vader2k, I actually use the Comply T400 on my IEM500, so I can confirm they work perfectly and provide a great seal.

Also, thank you for the posting the impedance for these.

Ah, very coolI  And no problem, happy to help out.

I noticed you mentioned the A151.  I just got some A151P 2nd gen's from the MD/MEE grab bag and I can tell the bass on the Puro is fuller than on the A151P.  Soundstage feels larger too.  That said, I'm still struggling with seal/fit issues (hoping the Comply's will fix that), so take these impressions with a grain of salt.

Yes Vader2k, I did mention the A151, but just the 1st gen.  I've heard the 2nd gen A151 is much better.

As for the fit on the IEM500, I guess I am lucky, they fit perfect for me, seal is awesome.

Sorry, didn't mean to suggest the fit on the Puro is troublesome.  I seem to be having seal problems with IEMs in general.  I'm using the large tips and feel like I have to push in really far for an OK seal to occur.  I think I might just have larger than average ear canals.

Totally agree with everything in your review- these things sound fantastic. It's pretty amazing how the details come through while having such prominent mid and sub bass. Although I got mine for $50 I'd still pay $100 if I hadn't known they were once that cheap, lol. Glad to see I'm not the only one who got a pair! :)

@Euphonik.  Awesome to hear you are enjoying your pair as much as I enjoyed mine.

I gave my pair to my soon to be brother-in-law as an early wedding present, as he thought they sounded fantastic.  So I need a replacement soon.

Not strictly related to the Puro product but, I am getting rather frustrated with having to hunt around to find power specifications on earphones.  I don't use a phone as a source.  I use an X3 with an E12 as I am somewhat hearing impaired.  Fewer and fewer manufacturers are stating the power capabilities.  I email one company and they told me "I don't know"!  No followup or anything.

For those who care, I emailed Puro.  The replied within 10 minutes.  This is the reply;
"
We power tested the IEM500 and found it reliable long-term at 100 mW.   Now, please be patient with me, I'm not sure if you're an engineer or well versed in audio and logarithmic calculations, so here are a couple guidelines:At 100 mW, the IEM500 produces 108.3dB SPL.  You don't want them in your ears at that volume.  It won't hurt the headphones, but it will hurt you. I have run my IEM500s with my Schiit Audio Asgard 2 headphone amp extensively.  They sound incredible.  That headphone amp has a low gain mode, which is perfect for in-ear monitors. For reference on the IEM500s, I whipped up a quick chart for you to estimate drive level vs. output SPL..09 V RMS = 85 dB.16 V RMS = 90 dB.28 V RMS = 95 dB.5 V RMS = 100 dB1 V RMS = 106 dB It's best to measure output levels with an SPL meter to know how loud you're listening.  You can approximate this with simple tools and the reference voltages above.  Hit me back if you would like to know more on this. Of course, always heed the "comfortable level" guideline.  And if I sound like I'm mothering you, well, we at PURO are committed to building products that promote hearing health.  We want you to be a customer for many years of healthy listening." Sounds like damned good Customer Service to go into that much detail.  A winner for me!

If the resistance is 17 Ohms/ Channel and they are wired in series the total resistance would be apprx. 34 Ohms. I figured them at around 32 Ohms as they are harder to drive than most of my other 'phones which are 16 and 18 Ohm.

It's very hard to drive. I don't know what is the exact resistance but I have to turn the volume at the same position as my er4s. If it should drive easier than I find, then maybe I get the defect one.
