Like i said in my review The DIY Canare cables restored the bass presence (and the musicality) on all the records... I would't even recommend the HE-400i with the stock cables!

I understand where you're coming from but I didn't think the stock cables that came with the 400i's were that bad. What led you to believe this? was it only after you swapped to a different cable?
Call me old fashioned but I'd like to think products should sound good or at least decent out of the box. Hifiman tested these headphones with the cable they included so they knew how it sounded before selling it as a product. People are free to switch parts as they like or mod the headphone. But I don't believe the modded or changed product should be reviewed since it is not the same as if a new buyer went out and picked them up.
