the honky part makes it one of the weirdest sounding heaphone presentation i have ever encountered. the biggest pros of this headphone is it sounds non fatiguing. i have headphones that sound better than it but they are fatiguing for long listening sessions. im not really sure if its easy to drive. what mod do you have on yours? mines a stock t50rp, no mod done yet

1) Easy to drive = sounds quite the same from any source + moderately sensitive (when compared to AKG K701, K240 or 270)
2) Strange but to me the T50 are second headphones of many other headphones (first was AKG K300) that I wasn't able to listen more than ~hour. Maybe SR-404 would be the third, but it wasn't so fatiguing as T50.
3) My mods were thicker earpads, damping on driver, damping inside earcup and removal of damping from the port n the back of the earcup.

1) i see, i guess its where you are coming from.
2) this is interesting, the t50rp sounds to me the least fatiguing headphone. my beyer dt990 and sony z1000 are both superior in sound quality imo but more fatiguing. i guess its also where you are coming from?
3) i see, but is it any particular mod (like thunderpants, bmf, paradox, mad dog...) or just your own mod?

Totally agree with your impressions. My thoughts on them were "meh".

2) It sems so, I never listened to any Beyers for long time, mainly just AKG, some Senns and STAX... :)
3) It's not any particular mod (at least it wasn't aim to do any particular mod). Everytime I just tried something then measured it and listened. If the result was better sound I left it and tried some other mod... :D

takato, that was my initial impression when i first got them, i was like "this headphone sounds really weird. why all the hype? sound quality wise, its just meh, nothing special" but now i can appreciate it being the least fatiguing headphone in my collection that has decent sound quality.
AmarokCZ,
2) i see, i guess beyers are kinda known for being hot on the high end.
3) nice, maybe you can have your own particular mod like the other modders!

Average for $100?  What other cans for a Benjamin match it modded; I would like to check them out...
I don't think there is any way these sound the same from any source.  Amping makes a big difference, unless you just have a lot of high output sources.  And the mods tend to be more than the sum of their parts, so I would consider checking BMF's thread to get an idea of what the mods will do if you haven't already.  If you have, never mind.

They certainly aren't average for 100$. There are cheaper better sounding headphones.
Regarding the "same from any source": learn to read, read the review and comments again and then roconsider your post.
The mods I tried weren't based on anything somoene did, just like I wrote in the post above. But seeing BMF's thread I have to say my final mod was quite similar, but little more complex.

"Easy to drive = sounds quite the same from any source;"  odd wording, but I think I understand what you're saying now.  I'm just saying, in my experience, these headphones aren't good unamped.  It's basically mandatory, though doesn't require anything extravagant.

Like?  Seriously.
