Great demo of the GUI Chris - that's where video is so much better than my simple screen shots  If I ever get back to Japan and you still have the Note and iFi combo, I'll have to see if we can hook up so I can listen to them. Guess we differ a lot in our preferences for the sonics - because the one thing I didn't think the X7 was flat (or dull).  But I respect your view mate.  Did you note which fw version you were using?  Twister (Alex) said that he heard sonic changes between versions - but I didn't have it long enough to listen to the later versions.

I hope to meet up with Curry next month and display my portable basshead and audiophile rig. The Note and iFi really are special. I think i quickly took back that dull comment right after i said it since it seemed a harsh word it was at exactly the 21:00 mark..thanks for watching that long ass ramble btw
 
I think the navigation video will end up with more views than the review. I liked relic's nav video but I kept wanting to grab my set up and listen to some Wish you were here by Pink Floyd   FiiO and it's combining Droid and Hi-Fi in a legit manner  ups the game for everyone. I would not use a click and go gui ever again.  And like I've said. @Joe Bloggs has no rival on this site when it comes to engaging the owner and potential owner community. He is the finest rep on this site. 

Great video review, Chris!  I finished Navigation one and still need to finish watching full review.  As Paul mentioned, I did notice sound changes between FWs.  Since you mentioned that your wifi is off, not sure if you got the latest 1.4 - definitely upgrade and check it out.  It's probably their best sound tuning so far (w/IEM module).

Thanks bro. I have no doubt the folks are and will continue to tweak the FW. The X5 is 3 generations old now and it just got it's last update so i imagine this should be quite special as it continues to evolve. I was on 1.1 or 1.0 at time of review so pretty much a beta tester.  I should drink coffee just before a vid so i can speed it up a bit

I like your video review. So much better for getting real time information across. I had so little time for my video portion to edit it, thank Pink Floyd for some entertainment. Yours has interaction, I like that. Nice.

Seems like a very unbiased review and I like that.  I would be interested to know, though, how the X7 compares to other stuff in the same general price-range.  

The GUI does seem to have some weirdness that needs to be ironed-out, for sure, but I am happy to see the speed with which it seems to work from what you demonstrated.  I'm sure that with future FW upgrades Fiio will streamline everything. . .it's Android, after-all.  Heck, somebody will probably figure out how to Rockbox it, if they haven't already.
