Superior review.  The new X3 feels like a more portable X5 in many ways, an X3 in an X1's shell.

Hi Brooko for this nice review.
Now I want to buy X3 II ... but!
I also use Fiio E10K for my laptop at work.
What should I do with it in case if I buy X3 II?
Is X3 II better DAC than E10k?
Brooko

Unfortunately I haven't heard the E10K, so I can't really advise a DAC comparison. If you're going to buy the X3ii, why not compare the two yourself - and then you can sell the E10K later if you need too. I'd imagine the X3ii DAC should be at least as good though - and probably better

Again excellent reveiw Brooko, very comprehensive.
So can you please give your thoughts on a83 +x3ii pairing? Do they make good pair or I'm to look somewhere else for a83?
Thanks

The x3ii is low output impedance, so it suits the A83 perfectly. I find it pairs really well - and the 10 band EQ allows for finer tuning if there us anything you'd like to tweak. Both are great products at their price points

Awaiting my new X3ii in the mail. Looking forward to hooking it up to my E11K and RE-600.

Would you say that the sound of the X1 is more similar to the X5 than the X3? Thanks!

vs. X5: "the X5 sounds slightly more refined – has a softer smoother edge to notes"
vs. X1: "it’s just that added sense of clarity that comes in with the X3ii"

Ooh tough question.
The X1 is a little more "raw" in it's presentation, a bit edgier.  The X3ii is comparatively smoother.  It's still vivid and dynamic - but there is just a greater sense of space. X5 is classic is probably the most neutral / flat / reference of all Fiios players. X5ii is very close to X3ii .  So in terms of overall SQ - I would go:
X1 < X3ii = X5 < X5ii, with X3ii and X5 having comparable SQ but a little different signatures.

Thanks for the review.
I bought the X3ii on this blackfriday for $160, with a 64GB sdcard as toast. Such a bargain for this amazing DAP.

I still can´t decide between the X3 II and the X5II, I sill wonder if the X5II is worth the extra 200 Euro?

@willyvlyminck - the easiest way to decide is to forget the sonics (which are pretty close) and concentrate on the features and differences - which are listed in the review. If they are worth the additional 200 Euro, then you have your easy answer.  One of the biggest ones will be space - the dual cards can't be overlooked.  Nowadays it means the difference between 200 Gb and 400 Gb.  But if the space isn't needed - then the value question becomes a little harder to justify.

I did order the X3 II Brooko, thx for the advice.I come from the X1, so this is the next step,Can I just put in my X1 SD  card? Or do I have to Format this card and start all over again?

I have the Philips L2 as well, but on the road I mainly use the Sennheiser IE80,so I guess the latter will do fine with the X3 II right? Maybe some other use this combo as well?

X1 card should be able to be read with no problems by the X3ii.  Only issue you may have is playlists with absolute references - but if you don't have them, then you are good to go.  X3ii will have no issues driving either IE80 or L2.
