Thanks gents. Good question on the ASG-1's. Sadly I don't know of anyone who has both to compare - and I haven't had the pleasure of listening to the Aurisonics.
Thanks again lads. It was a real pleasure doing this one. I'm now listening to the A81s (review unit - not mine), so I'll try and get a review for that at some stage in the future.
Oh my God.... Just got them in the mail. Listening to "Norah Jones ...Featuring". All I have to say is WOW. Vocals are better than I ever heard before and these earphones sound so natural. I'm using Comply T400 tips with mine and I really am blown away with the level of detail in the treble and voices. Also the bass is simply perfectly punch and full when it needs to be. The only thing that is not quite perfect is the sub-bass is nowhere near being linear and can sound pretty cut off. Very impressed intially despite the missing sub-bass.
Pleased they work for you The sub-bass is actually there (you can check it with test tones), it's just like the rest of the frequency range (really balanced). As for your full sized equivalents - my recommendation would be the Beyer T1.
I think it's my ears. I just feel like the sub-bass is very limited. It's definitely present but very quiet for my ears. I can't afford anything like the T1 any time soon so I think I'll be getting the HD600 around Christmas. I should have some money by then! Sub-bass be damned.
Does burn-in effect the dynamic driver providing the lows? I feel the sub-bass is improved significantly. I didn't even consider this when I first got them. My ears have become very well acquainted with them and I think they might have a future together.... I'm really feeling end game here....
Great review! Love your comparisons. I've been looking for the right IEM with similar presentation and quality to the HD600 and I think that this might just be the one!
@nScott89 - depends if you believe in burn-in. Personally I don't. I do think our brain adjusts to the sound over time though. I do agree with you - these are the closest I've come to "end-game". @vyogan - thanks. The more I listen to them, the more I'm convinced that they are a cross between my T1 and HD600. Best of both worlds - and definitely best sounding IEM I've ever owned.
For about 9 months now - no issues since switching. I also have the demo version of Trinity's Atlas - and it has mmcx replaceable connectors. It's a much nice cable, fits the A83 perfectly, and also has no issues with connections.
