Initially I (too) felt the treble to be too intense (but never really sibilant actually), even with james444's "Blu-Tack Mod" (http://www.head-fi.org/t/755301/dunu-dn-2000j-more-than-evolution/735#post_11740871). However, these days I find the treble just perfect for my preferences. Driver or brain burn in I don't know and it doesn't really matter to me. I've heard that DUNU's engineers recommend 200+ hours of burn in though. I use the stock white silicone tips without the metal sound adjustment rings.
Oh, and I most definitely agree; this phone is up there with the best (I've owned a few TOTL phones, see my profile) and even outperforms them in some respects!
