Excellent review. Mojo is one of the few pieces of gear I jumped at getting before most of the reviews were out. Couldn't be happier. Great piece of kit. Now let's see some Lightning cables!

Loved the wealth of comparisons and different use scenarios. Also, pointing to Rob Watts' posts is a great idea as there is a lot of under ther hood creativity going on that bears fruit in the sonic quality. Bet your not missing the AK240 at all, huh Amos?

Very very very tempted to grab this one day... I wonder how it compares to my HM901/Pb2

It cost me $1300 do find a portable rig on par with my Desktop Rig, which costs half as much an weighs about 50x as much lol. Though in all honesty at $600 I'd imagine the Mojo an a nice Mid Level Smart phone, like the LG G4 could be a VERY competitive portable rig [for right at $1000]

So have you given up on DAPs. You have passed on the AK380? and aren't considering a DP-X1?

Chord has done an amazing job with the Mojo, the hype has been strong on headfi but Chord has delivered on the hype in every way.
People will always defend their purchases even if they don't live upto the hype. However with Mojo its a real game changer, well built, sounds fantastic and all in an amazing foot print. Great review and spot on. I love my mojo and it certainly merits product of the year.

That was a pleasure to read - thank you. I still think Hugo is the better of the two but I'm not letting my Mojo go any time soon!

You opened the Mojo? I'm curious what is the capacity of Mojo's battery.

I've thought about going this route, but I don't like any of the playback app for iOS devices. I'd love it if someone could suggest an app that lets me:
1. Delete currently playing songs.
2. Create playlists or add the currently playing song to a playlist.
3. Has a clean interface.
4. Doesn't complain about not being connected if I turn off my cellular/data.
5. Allows me to manage songs on my device without using iTunes.

@Julienstanford- I don't think any app on iOS will be able to delete songs (maybe if you jailbreak your device).  Unless it's a player with a separate music folder.  I'm not sure that iOS allows apps to delete files like music.  To me the Apple music app has the best interface, and I'm pretty happy with it.  It also lets you add songs to playlists and to new ones even.  Of course you won't be able to manage songs without iTunes, but that's true with all apps and you generally have to drag and drop via the app folder.  I treat my itunes like a folder, just dropping any songs into it.  Or manage it with playlists for different devices.

What you are looking for has a better chance of realization from Android devices.

how does mojo compare to similarly priced Carbon with a decent DAC

@vnmslsrbms There are a number of iOS apps that can manage files/music without iTunes.  Many let you transfer files over WiFi from your web browser.  But.... they all have useless or ugly interfaces and no options other than EQ or sikins. Some also track you using cell data and will send a notification telling you (lock-screen control over music is disabled without 3G or WiFI).  As I see it, the biggest problem using an iPhone as my player isn't a lack of external DACs, it's the lack of a proper app.  Why companies like Cord don't think about this stuff it beyond me.  Why? Because if they made a quality app that only worked with their DAC, everyone would be sure to buy their DAC.  Cord, if you're reading this think about it.

@Julienstanford - I think it's cuz Chord isn't a app developer.  Sometimes they are quite narrow minded in what they want to do.  They'd have to outsource the app development, and probably spend a lot of time and money that they don't want to.  They could very well spend a lot of time developing it and end up with something ugly and that doesn't work very well.

Nice review, although some thoughts I find a little unsettling relative to my own experience. I have not heard the Mojo, but unless this product is so evolved compared to other portable offerings, I have a hard time believing it stacks up to top-tier desktop gear (where I believe the Studio Six resides). In my experience, I have not heard a portable amp (or DAC) come particularly close to the likes of a Balancing Act or Dynahi. Just as I have not heard a portable DAC come near the likes of a Spectral SDR-2000. I was a little surprised to read your thoughts to the contrary, particularly with something as picky as the HD800.
