if you are just using the headphone for E-piano, why not go for the 32-ohm version? imo its better when running un-amped.
but really DT880 is all you need!

The Beyerdynamic Dt 880 are a great headphone, and I hope yours always put a smile on your face. However the more expensive headphones can be realy nice too. I hope you can demo a Alpha Dog or a HE-560, you might be shocked at how good they sound. Please have a great time using your headphones.

Sure, I would've tried the DT880 32-Ohm if they had it in stock. But they didn't and since the 250-Ohm version worked just fine, I didn't bother. Anyway, as far as I understood, the output signal of any decent keyboard already comes quite strong, as if pre-amped. The optimal volume of my Nord Stage with the DT880 250-Ohm is still somewhere below 50%.

reddog, thanks for the suggestions, I certainly might give a try to some of those. I just didn't want to overdo it with my first audiophile purchase - as also wisely suggested elsewhere on this forum :)

You have made a great choice, the DT880's are an amazing headphone! Be sure to check out the German Maestro lineup if you get a chance as they have excellent headphones as well!

Interesting how many people tell you how great the 880 is and then advise you to try something else. I'm going to buck the trend by assuring you the 880 is a great headphone and advising you NOT to try anything else, as it will start you on the Road of Endless Dissatisfaction and leave you broke. The 880 is more than good enough to be an end phone.
