My friend have a pair of A2s and so does I. His pair sounds very bad and muddy but my pair sounds wonderful! Both of us have the right stands for them and so on.. But I have listened to my friends pair and they sound exactly as you says, very muddy, and not like my pair at all. I think it can have something to do with the power supply.. But I don't really know. It's very sensitive, and Audioengine themself recommend that you put your powersupply away from your computer to reduce interference. Hmmm. Strange
@Simon - Did you guys actually compare your sets by A/B'ing and putting them in the same positions and in the same room? If you didn't do that, then it could simply be the positioning of the speakers and the different room acoustics, and not necessarily because the speakers sound different.
