Yeah I agree, the genre that AKG consistently does well IMO is Classical/Orchestral. Very thorough, great read.

Hey, nice. But try to upgrade your setup with a usb transport (like M2tech HiFace Evo 2 or Casea Aquila) and you will get a better treble :)

Thank you for sharing your very good review!  One small correction (or maybe just clarification). You write that the "every K7xx is serialized, unlike the DT880."  The DT880 has a serial number number on one of the top flaps of the box, right below the barcode. I entered that number when I successfully registered mine on the beyerdynamic website.  Of course, it would be better if the number were on the headphones (as it is for the DT250-250, to use another beyerdynamics as an example).

@MarcoGV I meant to say the headphone is not serialized.  I will clarify, thanks for pointing that out.

Love the aesthetics of the AKG 7xx.

So in about a week I'll be putting @TiborM's theory to the test, using a Gustard U12 and Audioquest Cinnamon Coax cable.  Will be interesting to see if it evens out the treble.

Hopefuly it will help.
Also I find my K7XX quite dry sounding, but I have ordered new cable for them from Forza Audioworks, I will see if that will help. It has helped my Aedle VK-1 with it´s dry sound, so I am hoping.
And I have added some bass to the AKG´s +2db from 55hz to 300hz. VERY NICE! Mid range and trebble remain unaffected and the bass is there now :
