Should I get another Grado or something else?

Hello, Head-fi! I need a pair of full size and comfortable phones for my office. Open/closed makes no difference, and price is flexible. They will be run through an Apogee Duet hooked to my iMac. I am open to a headphone/amp combo if you know of something good with the Duet. Otherwise...

enjoying my new Apogee Duet, question about headphones and cables

Yesterday I picked up an Apogee Duet to use with my Macbook Pro, and it is totally sweet. I believe it compares favorably with my former HR Micro Stack, and sounds a lot better than the iPod/Go-Vibe combo through Ety ER-4Ss. I have two uses for the Duet other than listening. I am going to use...

    I'm a shallow narcissist...

I just bought an iPod 4G U2 special edition from bootleg. It was a refurb replacement for his old one, and it is in perfect condition. I'll post some pictures once I get it skinned and rigged. My shallow question is, what portable amp do you think would look the best with the black/red face...

Question about opening up iPod for iMod

Can Vinnie do an iMod with an Invisible Shield on the player? I have a 4G U2 special edition on its way supposedly in great shape, and I want to have it iModded this summer. However, I am very picky about scratches, and would like to go ahead and slap a skin on there. Will I have to remove it...

How would this travelling rig be?

I've been looking at amp and headphone combinations for an extended trip to Italy. I have Shure e3's now, and it seems that they would not benefit from amping but are fine out of the iPod jack. I would like something a little better for my trip (better here being defined as better detail and...

most portable amp, good with IEMs

I'm leaving in January to spend 6 weeks in Italy and want to have something very portable to go with my iPod 5G and Shure E3s. (I might upgrade those as well to E4 or ER4). I already have the MicroStack with desktop module for my non-portable setup, so I am interested in portability (=small...

    Shure E3: off-center soundstage

I think my E3s are sick. Lately I've noticed that the center part of the soundstage is shifted left a little bit. I can still hear instruments playing in the right ear, but evidently I'm not getting as much sound from that side because my lead singers always seem to be about 3 feet to the left...

    triple-flange for the Shure E3

[search disabled ] I'm just about to order my E3s, and thought I would ask for opinions on the triple-flanges. Should I toss in a pair, or wait and see how the others work? The Shure site says that they have a tighter fit, but what I've read seems to suggest that the E3s are fairly tight...

E2s or E3s for the gym?

I asked this question in a thread further down, so if it dies here I'll just drop it. I use my Karma working out (4-5 times a week) and in the library, and need isolating phones for both of these places. I've decided that the Shure line is the way to go as it provides the most isolation in...
