ATH-AD900x first impression - the snares just hurt my ears

You can actually bend the top arms in to get a tighter fit. That will increase the seal and improve it. I have the original ad900s and made them better, but now never use them because of the treble.

    The ATH-AD900 Thread

Due to the wings, it's very adjustable and light on the head.  Small ears will mean the plastic from the drivers will rest on them. Search phatpad mod and that might help some.  Clamping force is also adjustable because the bars across the top are metal and can be bent some to preference.

    Moving from full-sized to portable

I still have them, but never listen to them. Treble is far to bright for my tastes and that is coming from the K702 which many feel are too bright for them, but I feel are just right. Soundstage really is amazing on the AD900 though.  Like watching a concert.

    Moving from full-sized to portable

$80!?  Wow, that hurts. My AD900's are 4 years old, but I paid $249 for them and felt I got a good deal because you couldn't get them for less than $279 at the time. They were great around the house with an Ipod because they sound the same no matter what the source.  The fit is a little light...

Matrix M-Stage amp review: simple, cheap, and excellent.

My setup is the K702 fed by the M-Stage and usb DacWOW.  I got the opa627 and didnt really like the changes it made to the soundstage.  I also have a Corda Headfive and I decided to try 2 of the lm6171s out of it on a dual dip adapter and absolutely love this sound!  I have read many posts about...

    Inception Soundtrack: 12 Time

The song that moves me like this is "The Mark Has Been Made" by Nine Inch Nails.  It was used in the movie Man on Fire very well I think.

Off topic but Neil Peart's website showcases his writing talents and his blogs are fun reads I've found.

Favorite musician/band/group of all time...post here.

Another vote for Rush!!!  Sound quality of some of their albums leave much to be desired, but the songs make me overlook it.  The Cure is a tie for the first for me, hence my login here....

Headphones for classical, acoustic, $300 range

I really like my ad900's for classical and acoustic music.  They are open, so they block NO noise, but they are comfortable and dont need an amp at all to sound great.  I paid  $250 for them so you may want to give them a try.

Recommendations?: $200-$350 range. Looking for a fairly balanced signature.

The AD900 doesn't get much love around here, but I have them and find that they meet all your requirements and are really easy to drive as well.

    The ATH-AD900 Thread

Anyone take that foam out and hear a difference? I did, after reading that it increased the already large soundstage and tamed the highs... I really tried to like it for a day, with several hours of listening and to me it made the mids sound strange so I put them back in. The biggest...

Audio Technica AD900 REVIEW (and compared to HD595)

I love the ad900 too. A couple weeks ago I bought a Nuforce Udac to replace the audigy soundcard on my computer and find that they pair together wonderfully. The highs are tamed just enough to keep the details present and the lower mids are brought up a bit, making guitars and most vocals sound...

I like secondspin.com for used cds. Pretty fast shipping, and you can sell the cds back to them once you've ripped them for credit towards new ones.

I love my RE0's and own SR80's. What next?

I found a mint condition "used" pair of ad900's on the Guitar Center website Monday, after searching for someone with them in stock for a few days. I recieved them in the mail a few hours ago, and feel I chose well. Paid $249 for them and they look flawless from what I can see. Sound is very...

I love my RE0's and own SR80's. What next?

Thank you MD1032. I have been reading up on the AD900 and really think they will be EXACTLY what I'm looking for! Now I just have to find them. Very few online shops seem to sell them, and the ones that do have a wait to get them. Is Audio Technica updating their line? I really hope they haven't...

I love my RE0's and own SR80's. What next?

I am sorry for this post because I hate reading these, but I have been reading for weeks and am no closer to a decision. I LOVE my RE0 iems, which I have owned now for about 4 months. I never knew I could love treble as much as I do since I switched to these from Sennheiser IE6's. I have had my...

    Deal Alert! Head-Direct RE0 $79 for Thanksgiving.

Bass definitely is different from my IE6. Bass drum does not thump, but you can hear the mallet contact the drum itself if you focus on that. Bass guitar notes actually come through instead of the tone dead vibrations that come through on what ive heard before. Rush's Moving Pictures is an...
