Need help choosing closed full sized headphones for my daily commute...

The HD25s are your best bet, but they are more on-ear than around ear.   The clamping force goes away after a few days however, and they become quite comfortable.  You'd be hard-pressed to find a more versatile portable phone.  These things were built for the road in every sense of the word.

The BEST full sized headphones for $30 USD or less (updated Nov. 27 2013)?

I think more recommendations are the last thing you need at this point.  It's thirty bucks.  This is your first headphone.    Just flip a coin and buy either the PortaPros or the JVCs.  Either way you'll end up with both the longer you visit these forums.     Actually, I'm certain you will...

The BEST full sized headphones for $30 USD or less (updated Nov. 27 2013)?

Haha, actually I bought these exact headphones from Bestbuy.   You are right, they are NOT the anniversary PortaPros, but simply a black version of the original with a black cloth-sheathed cable.  The normally silver/chrome ring around the outer driver casing is also painted black.  As far as I...

The BEST full sized headphones for $30 USD or less (updated Nov. 27 2013)?

The PortaPros are very comfortable for long term listening.   That's part of their design, part of their appeal.  They feature little cushions above the ear that relieve direct pressure on your ears.  They even call this "comfortZone"  haha.    As for bass, it's pretty much the word with the...

The BEST full sized headphones for $30 USD or less (updated Nov. 27 2013)?

I think you should just pick up the PortaPros and be done with it.  They are considered classics for good reason (I'd say most of us started with a pair and probably still have one despite moving on to greener pastures).  Tough to beat for 30-40 bucks and come with probably the greatest warranty...

Anyone switch from MDR-V6 to HD25-1 ii?

Made this exact switch a while ago. After a few hours with the HD25-1IIs, I gave the V6s to a family friend and never looked back. The Senns are incredibly versatile and they go everywhere I go.

    Headphones for D2+?

GO for the HD25-1IIs. They are simply the most versatile/practical phones I own. Low maintenance, high durability, handles all genres of music more than adequately for portable devices. Plus, it's very simply constructed you can easily replace every single part of the set if needed almost...

    lady gaga headphones :o

I think these are going to be a riot. I wont be surprised if this sells. She's relatively popular, I mean she has her own iphone tap tap version already. And yep, looks like this thread is going to a place I've seen before.

Rate The Last Movie You Watched

    (500) days of summer - 9.5/10 My movie of the summer (ha). Has potential to be a classic. Every bit as good as everyone has said. It's the Annie Hall of our generation. Few movies explore a relationship from the point of view of a sensitive male. That sounds so lame and melodramatic but any guy...

Why is live music so damned loud?

Sometimes the show warrants the volume. This was the case when I saw My Bloody Valentine last year when they played NYC for the first time in 15 years. Their shows back in the day were notorious for how loud they were (they were gracious enough to give the entire audience free earplugs and a...

    The overall best portable headphone?

Another vote for the HD25-1IIs. I have absolutely no reservations about them...aside from maybe the clamping force (just use the provided velour pads). Sounds great with pop and electronic music, which are what I mainly listen to anyway. Not since the Sony V6 have I felt more comfortable with...

    Best Buy Headphone help...

As someone who was in your shoes just a little while ago...my advice is to sell the best buy gift card. Or, try to snag a few more gift cards or pony up another $100 for the Sennheiser HD25-1. That's really as high as you can go at Best Buy.

Favorite female vocals with electronica/trance/chill beats

Another one I forgot about. Sophie Ellis Bextor - Very versatile and underrated singer imo. Shot to fame after giving her voice to that Spiller - Groovejet tune in 2000. Critically acclaimed/abhorred in Europe but barley known in the US (isn't that always the case). A bit of a chameleon in...

    Headphones in JP.

I was in Tokyo a little over 6 months ago. I was looking for a closed portable set so I picked up a pair of ES7s from Yodobashi Camera. You can burn them in with pink noise/white noise or... you can do it the foolproof way and simply play the music you like at slightly above your normal listening volume for a while and let the phones "mature".
