Seems to be working for me now. Strange!

USB-C to 3.5mm adapters (DAC) - Let's find the best

I can't actually buy the Meizu Pro from Aliexpress from any sellers. Every time I try to check out it says there's no shipping to the UK. I guess Coronavirus lock down?

USB-C to 3.5mm adapters (DAC) - Let's find the best

Hi there, thinking of picking up a Note 10 Plus 5G tomorrow (currently use a Note 8). I just want a simple dondle that is portable and fuss free, and adds a clean noise free boost in performance/volume, with no colourisation of sound, to power Sony MDR-Z1R headphones, plus BGVP DM6 and Westone...

    Knowledge Zenith (KZ) impressions thread

So should I opt for the AIR 2 or AIR 1 foam eartips? I don't want a situation where they come out in my ears, instead I want them to fit snuggly and tightly on to the earphone tips.

Anyone know what diameter size the tips of the AS10 are? What are the recommended foam tips for it?

    Sony Z1R....listening impressions only

Can anyone advise on the absolute cheapest place to buy replacement earpads for these headphones? I don't need them as of yet, but I'm tempted to plan for the future lol.

    Sony Z1R....listening impressions only

I've had mine since they pretty much launched, which is over a year now. In that time I've used Lord knows how many headphones, and also used to own or still own the T1, T1.2, HD800, HD800S, LCD-2, LCD-3, LCD-XC and more, the MDR-Z1R are still easily my favourite headphones of the bunch, or of...

    Sony Z1R....listening impressions only

Yea I've sold a tonne of my gear now too. Still kept my Z1R's though :)

    Sennheiser HD820

Great post. I have to say, I'm with Judes measurements and others with respect to the Z1R's, and do not agree at all with Tyll's measurements or his opinion. The Z1R's are my fave headphones to date, and a sound I've been seeking out for probably 10+ years now. I personally do not get any of...

    Sennheiser HD820

Can you swap it out with another one? I genuinely believe there might be some that are worse than others. Earpads certainly differ a lot based on personal experience. That said, the two pairs I had were sibilance free, though it might have also been because I listen at lower volumes.

    That's pretty amusing.

    Sony Z1R....listening impressions only

Side note, the Z1R's make such an incredible gaming headphone. You get the bass impact that is so important for so many games (explosions, gunshots, engine notes etc) that cans like the HD800/S and T1.1 can't quite replicate to a realistic or ideally dramatic standard, but then the Z1R's still...

    Pioneer SE-MONITOR5 - Pioneer's high-end closed-back

Does the 60 day return period still allow for the return of used items? And is there a re-stocking fee of any kind? Thanks.

    Pioneer SE-MONITOR5 - Pioneer's high-end closed-back

Having trimmed my headphone collection down to just a few high end cans now, and despite being 100% content with the Z1R's, because I'm a curious idiot who is compulsive and too in to technology, I'm still also curious about these SE-5's and how they sound in relation to the Z1R's. They're...

    Sennheiser HD820

If true, it's good in a way, as I'd no longer be curious about, or interested in them lol.

    Zeos Sound Demo comparisons (MDR-Z1R, LCD-4, Elear, EL-8C, M1060, L700, L300, M40x)

I wouldn't say he thinks every new headphone is the best ever (see his HD800S, DT1770, DT1990, LCD-4, MDR-Z1R etc reviews), but he's certainly an enthusiastic layman, a bit like most people on this forum infact, who are more privy to flavour of the month than most. And him being an...

    Focal Clear headphones

This is a really interesting post and might go to explain a lot with respect to how people (including Tyll) can have such massively differing opinions of the same headphone. I always assumed the main factor was biology and the makeup of our ears, but here you can see that volume levels can make...

    Zeos Sound Demo comparisons (MDR-Z1R, LCD-4, Elear, EL-8C, M1060, L700, L300, M40x)

Pretty much ALL major review outlets make money from advertising, from Headfonia right through to this very forum (hence the adverts plastered everywhere). The commercial aspect in and of itself does not necessarily invalidate the opinions, if it did we'd never trust any online tech or review...

    Zeos Sound Demo comparisons (MDR-Z1R, LCD-4, Elear, EL-8C, M1060, L700, L300, M40x)

Of course that's is true about the speakers, as I mentioned in my original post. However it still gives you a rough flavour of how the headphones sound in comparison to one another. Also him being paid to hype certain products, once again, has no bearing whatsoever to the actual sound demos...

    Zeos Sound Demo comparisons (MDR-Z1R, LCD-4, Elear, EL-8C, M1060, L700, L300, M40x)

You don't need to like or even listen to him in order to listen to and compare his different sound demos. It's literally just some high resolution microphones set up in a rig to pick up, record and ultimately play back the sound playing directly from the headphones.

    Sennheiser HD820

There is so much to pick apart in this post I don't even know where to begin. £10,000 BoM on the Orpheus and you think that is a conservative estimate? Because of the use of marble? Do you have any experience in manufacturing or in the buying or selling or marble? The fireplace in my living...

    Sennheiser HD820

No Aux seems like a strange omission. Personally I just use USB or Bluetooth in mine, though I probably really should sort something a bit more audiophile since they have Aux. Regarding waiting, I suppose you might as well wait at this point to hear comparisons and impressions from both, though...

    Sennheiser HD820

Anyway, price discussions aside, I'm extremely interested to see how the HD820 compares to the MDR-Z1R sonically. I recently sold my HD800S, HD800 and LCD-3 because I preferred the Z1R's and loved the fact that they're not only closed, but so comfortable and light (as are the HD800 line too). I...

    Sennheiser HD820

I think the important thing you're missing here is context. People aren't going on Aston Martin forums complaining about the price compared to a Ford Focus because technologically and engineering wise an Aston Martin is literally orders of magnitude more sophisticated and advanced than any Ford...
